Sundance Film Festival Opening Title Sequences

These Main Titles were created for the Sundance Film Festival.

Concept: Write Light

Write Light explores the notion that a filmmaker "writes" with light.

The idea was to deconstruct the filmmaking process. The piece was shot with a still camera to emphasis how motion pictures are comprised of 24 single frames per second.

We employed a poi fire dancer who "wrote" the countdown numbers and used light driven type. These cues are based on the commands called out on set before the camera rolls and the director calls "ACTION".

Concept: Ignite

"Fire" was the theme of the Sundance Festival. This Main Title sequence served as the open for the festival's films.

Concept: Ignite

Ignite is a study of elements transmuting. Much like an idea begins with a drop of inspiration then explodes into a powerful expression, I played off this notion as a way to show how a kernel of an idea can ignite creative expression.

I shot this using a photo-sonic camera. We broke every fire code in the book. Thank god we shot it on a Sunday while the coast was clear.

Wanna see how awesome it will look in your space?
AMAZING.
